Alta Cook, 94, of Las Vegas, passed away March 7, 2013, of natural causes. She was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Eureka, Utah, and was a Nevada resident for 58 years. She was married April 23, 1938, in Mt. Emmons, Duchesne, Utah, to Allen Levi Cook. She was the mother of five children, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Las Vegas LDS Temple, was a retired baker for the school district, made cinnamon rolls, quilts, and knitting. She was preceded in death by parents, Volney Burdell and Esther Chase Boswell; husband, Allen Levi Cook; sister, Fern Snow; grandchild, Annette Brady; and great-grandchildren, John Charles Chamberlain and Brandon Allen. She is survived by children, David Cook, Eileen Welch, Lois Chamberlain, Shirleen Brady and Kathleen Cox; 19 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Leslie Boswell, Elvin Ray Boswell, Arlene Clark, Bernice Swasey, Ann Clark and Fay Jean Millburn. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 14, at Bunkers Funeral Home, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. A second visitation will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 15, with services following, at Christy and Harris LDS Chapel, 1001 N. Christy Lane. Graveside interment following service at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
