Alton Terry Gholson better known as “Terry” was born on December 23, 1954 in Bridgehampton, NY to Ida Beatrice and Berkley Gholson. In birth order, Terry was the youngest of four children born to his parents. Terry attended Bridgehampton High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball and graduated high school in 1972. In addition to basketball, Terry was also a skilled baseball player; his agility, anticipation and instinctive play at shortstop earned him “All-Long Island Shortstop” and was recruited for triple league baseball by the Mets. However, having realized his love for music at an early age, Terry decided to follow his passion and attended and graduated from Berkley College of Music 1976 with degrees in Orchestration and Education. Terry was a great music writer and arranger and composer, composing the score for films and Broadway shows, such as Sy Cohen’s, “I Love My Wife”; this work resulted in Terry being offered a position as the conductor of the Chi-Town Orchestra and Philly Sound Orchestra. Moreover, Terry was selected to produce and arrange many popular disco era songs such as “This Time Baby” by Jackie Moore. Terry eventually decided to further his education and through diligence and hard work earned his Juris Doctor. After doing so, he decided to settle in the New England state of Massachusetts where he found and married the love of his life, Valerie Victoria McIntosh, on October 13, 2003. In 2004, for palm trees and sunshine, Terry and Valerie relocated to North Las Vegas, NV. On Tuesday, May 31, 2016 he loving angels of GOD came from heaven and closed the eyes and gently sealed the lips of our beloved Alton Terry Gholson and embarked his soul on its journey up to the throne of grace.
