Amy La Velle Dickinson, 92, of Henderson, passed away late in the evening of June 1, 2015, in her home. She was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Vernal, Utah, the eighth of 10 children, born to David Lee Hall and Almira Josephine (nee Alger) Hall. She and her family moved many times, eventually settling in the Ely/McGill area, where she met and married her husband, Robert O. Dickinson, June 10, 1939. Amy was a mother to three boys, Rodney Jay Dickinson, Robert Lee Dickinson, and Thomas Arthur Dickinson. They moved to Henderson April 1, 1950. Loved and adored by many for her remote correspondence, she would send piles of birthday and Christmas cards every year. Every one of them handwritten in her distinctive 1920's inspired cursive script. She and her husband, Bob, were well-known in the city of Henderson as some of the earliest Christmas decoration enthusiasts. They were featured in the Henderson Home News numerous times over the years for their large Christmas decoration collection. Amy collected Santa Claus figurines and displayed them prominently every Christmas. Admired by many for her exceptional culinary abilities, she regularly baked a wide array of skillfully crafted pies and cakes. She was also well-known as a confectioner for crafting a delectable assortment of candy, toffee and chocolate treats. There wasn't much that she couldn't cook in the kitchen and luckily most of her well-known recipes were passed and lovingly taught to family members. She also fancied treats herself and was known to prefer See's brand chocolates nearly to any other sustenance. She once admitted, in her late life, that some days she only ate chocolate! She touched the lives of an amazing number of people in her time and taught us all to try harder at keeping in touch with the people that matter. She lived life, happily, the way she wanted to and she made sure those around her knew to live their life in a way that made them happy too, a lesson that isn't being taught so much these days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Tom; and siblings, Lee, Grant, Scott, Jay, Della, Clara, Bernice and Edith. She is survived by her sister, Gladys; sons, Rodney and Lee; and grandchildren Shawn, Chad, Darbie and Bryce. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, with services following, both at the LDS Chapel, 303 Cholla St., Henderson. Burial following at Palm Memorial Park, 800 S. Boulder Highway. Luncheon following.
