Antolin Abrego is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria B. Abrego, and six children, Jesús Antonio Abrego, Rosa Elena Abrego, Flor de Maria Abrego-Garcia, Darlin Abrego-Delgado, Amada Abrego-Doushgounian, and Jairo V. Abrego. Antolin leaves behind thirteen grandkids and nine great-grandkids, who he loved dearly and enjoyed their visits to his Las Vegas home.
Antolin emigrated to the United States from El Salvador in 1978, escaping the civil war and seeking a better life and opportunity for his family. Upon settling in Las Vegas, Antolin worked in various hotels and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, including the Castaway Hotel and Casino and Bally's Hotel and Casino. During crab season, he would leave Las Vegas to work in Alaska as a seasonal worker to make extra money to support his family back in El Salvador. Through hard work, perseverance, and drive, he brought his family to Las Vegas in 1983 and established roots in the booming Southern Nevada town.
Antolin loved fishing at Lake Mead on his days off from work and had many happy memories with his two youngest children and fishing buddies. He enjoyed spending quality time and relaxing moments with his family and friends at the lake. Antolin had a deep passion for soccer and loved to watch local club soccer games in which his eldest son, friends, and, eventually, his grandkids would play.
Antolin was diagnosed with renal failure and lived with the disease for many years. He battled with the disease, which he eventually succumbed to. His family will never forget him as the father who ventured far from home, from all he knew, to seek a better life and the American dream for his wife and children. We love you, dad, and thank you for your love and sacrifice and the hard-working values you instilled in us. Ya puedes descansar en paz querido padre y siempre te llevaremos en nuestros corazones.
