Archie Groft passed away April 10, 2014, at home in Las Vegas, after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 9, 1925, in Delta, Utah, to Archie D. and Lala T. Groft, and was raised in the Uintah Basin. He came to Las Vegas in 1953 to build his business, Arctic Circle Drive Inn, and was the creator of the famous Arctic Sauce. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Las Vegas LDS temple for 18 years. Archie was the owner of the first Searchlight Co. in Nevada, past president and lifetime member of the North Las Vegas Lions Club and past president of the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, his family and church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sydney Ann Bohac. Archie is survived by wife, of 69 years, Naomi; sons and daughters-in-law, Lance and Linda, and Dennis and Donelle Groft; 12 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Viewing will be 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the LDS Church, 877 Temple View Drive, Las Vegas.
