Bessie Louise Adams, 89, a retired retail clerk, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 5, 2011. She was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Greene County, Ark., and was a 64-year resident of Nevada. Bessie, husband, and son, Al, moved from Paragould, Ark. to Las Vegas in 1947. She was a homemaker and worked for 25 years as a checker and clerk for several local grocery stores. Bessie was an early active member of the Retail Clerk's Union of Las Vegas. She was a member of and worshiped at the Red Rock Baptist Church for many years. Besides her family, her sewing was an important part of her life. She helped organize a sewing group of local ladies that was active for over 30 years. In her later life, she enjoyed ballroom dancing with her friends at the Las Vegas Senior Center. Bessie had a great opportunity to tour Europe with her special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fonzo "Joe" Adams; and son, Al Adams. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Roz Adams of Elko; son, Frank Adams and his wife, Patti, of Mesquite; son, Fred Adams of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Las Vegas and Arkansas. Viewing will be 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7. Funeral is 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Graveside services following, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
