Betty Gene Gunny passed peacefully from this life on March 11, 2021 surrounded and supported by family and caregivers in the last days of her life. Betty was an amazing person that had a heart of gold. She saw beauty in the simple things of life like no other. She loved the Lord and loved to serve others. She served in many different callings in the Church and especially loved the sisters of the Las Vegas Ninth Ward. She loved cooking, creating new recipes, hosting gatherings and feeding all those in need in her ward. She had a sweet Texas drawl when she spoke and was always the most elegant woman when she walked in a room. Betty was born August 11, 1933 in Sherman, Texas and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in Dallas, Texas. In 1959, she married Robert (Bob) Gunny in Las Vegas, NV and raised three boys. They lived in Las Vegas for over 45 years before retiring and moving to Pahrump, NV. Her health declined steadily and she spent the last six years in Las Vegas to live out her remaining days in peace and comfort. Country strong and resilient to the very end, the twinkle and winking in her eyes brought more love and wonderful memories to all those who took care of her. Goodbyes are not forever; goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you until we meet again. Betty Gene is survived by her husband Robert Gunny of Las Vegas; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sheri Gunny of Las Vegas; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Danielle Gunny of Henderson, NV; granddaughters Dallas Gunny and Shelby Gunny; grandsons Austin Gunny, Brandon Gunny, Logan Gunny and Colton Gunny and one great-granddaughter on the way! She is also survived by her half-sister, Shirley Heiner of Las Vegas and half-sister Pat Faucette of Kearny, AZ. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert (Greg) Gunny; parents; Charles Elliott and Geneva Conyers Stewart; her half-sister Jerry Mona (Simons) Smith; and her half-brother Clark Stewart Jr. Final resting place and burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
