Betty Frances Potter, 91, of North Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Aug. 15, 2014, at her home of 36 years. Betty was born July 17, 1923, in Chicago, the only child of Philip Portanova and Sarah Bolotin. Betty worked many years as a veterinary assistant. She loved working with animals and continued this love by making donations to her favorite animal organization Las Vegas Valley Humane Society. Betty also worked for the Red Cross and Blind Center of Nevada. She donated her time to the North Las Vegas Library every Thursday up until her passing. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathy Curtis-Parker; son, Richard Baldridge; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas. Betty made sure she read the obituaries everyday in the Las Vegas Review-Journal for people she might know. Just maybe someone else will be doing the same. Betty's favorite was saying, "Isn't that nice."
