Betty Jean Snowden Cuveston
Sunrise September 21, 1938 – Sunset April 5, 2023
Our amazing mother Betty Jean Snowden-Cuveston was born in Garland, AK on September 21, 1938 to loving parents Douglas & Cherrie Rader who preceded her in death. Mom went onto her heavenly home on April 5, 2023. As always, we were by her side and even though we are heartbroken to lose her, we know she is resting in peace.
Mom was always strong and independent. She left Garland to travel to Las Vegas, where several of her older sisters lived. She met and married Oliver Snowden who preceded her in death on September 11, 1975. After being widowed for a number of years, she married Theodore Cuveston, who also preceded her in death. Mom was the youngest of seven children. Her siblings Mattie, Douglas, Thomas, Addine, Vernice, and Cherrie will greet her once again in their heavenly home.
Mom loved life, loved to play dominoes and spades. She enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams-the Los Angeles Lakers (don't ever say a bad word about Kobe Bryant) and the San Francisco 49ers. She loved shooting the breeze and partaking in a Miller Lite, whch she favorably called "her COLD ONES". But the sound that brought the most joy to her heart, was being called "GRANNY".
Mom leaves to cherish her memory: 4 adult children and a daughter-in-law: Delphine, Beverly, Jackie and Howard (Felicia Cuveston). Along with 3 grandchildren; Isaiah, Dallas, and Zoe. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
There is no question to the LOVE that Mom had for her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, and would consistently "put her foot in it". As a result of her generosity and inviting spirit, her influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her.
No words can express how much this incredible mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend will be missed. We pray for one another, remembering Mom wanted the best for all of us. May those moments that shone so brightly, be the memories that comfort you quietly now and in the days ahead.
Isaiah 57:1-2 The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.
Tributes to Mother at her Funeral
You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
