BEVERLY JONES Beverly Ann Jones, 72, a retired telephone operator, of Las Vegas, passed away June 4, 2011. She was born May 4, 1939, in Jersey City, N.J., and was a 47-year resident of Nevada. Beverly fought a miraculous five-year battle with brain cancer before joining her husband, Garland in death. She and Garland met in Oceanside, Calif., on the beach. They eloped two weeks later July 19, 1957. They welcomed their first son, Garland Lee Jones Jr. in 1959 and their second son, Scott Thomas Jones in 1961. In 1965, Beverly was hired as executive secretary for the first Fletcher Jones dealership. The rest of her career was spent as a PBX operator for various casinos throughout the valley, and retired from the Four Queens in 1992. She and Garland were devoted Southern Baptists and were members of Redrock Baptist Church, Sunrise Baptist Church and charter members of Living Water Baptist Church. Beverly will be remembered for her laughter, generosity and faithfulness to the Lord. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Hake Harrington and Richard Francis Harrington; and her beloved husband, of 44 years, Garland Lee Jones Sr. Beverly is survived by her sons, Scott and Lee (Cyndi) Jones; siblings, Kathryn Cole, Robert and Richard (Irene) Harrington; sister-in-law, Jerry Reardon; and beloved granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Jones. She is also survived by her two nieces, Janice Harrington and Tara Wade-Karin (David); two nephews, Rick (Tina and Brandon) Wade and Brian (Nacira and Dylan) Harrington; and close family friends EJ Bateman and Edward Robinson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Donations can be made to the Living Water Baptist Church Garland Jones Building Fund, 1109 Coldstream Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89110, or to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
