Beverly Ann Phillips

February 27, 1940 — June 25, 2025

Beverly Ann (Dexter) Phillips, age 85, of Las Vegas passed away June 25, 2025, peacefully at home.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roger Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Jayme Lea (Phillips) Ray, her granddaughters Genevieve Michelle Raynor and Alexandra Lea Raynor and her sister Barbara Lea (Dexter) Clark. Beverly also leaves other family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Beverly was born February 27, 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter of the late Theodore R. and Genevieve W. Dexter. She was baptized and confirmed in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The family moved to San Bernardino CA where Beverly attended kindergarten through second grade. They moved back to Las Vegas where Beverly finished school and was in the first four-year class to graduate from Rancho High School in 1958.

Beverly received an associate of arts degree from Graceland College. She then declared her major in physical education and became a Sun Devil at Arizona State University. She joined the Kappa Delta Sorority and was on the synchronized swim team. She earned her bachelor degree and master’s degree at A.S.U.

Beverly then moved back to Las Vegas. She was a P.E. and Health teacher for the Clark County School District for 28 years, many of which were at Cashman Junior High School. Early in her career, she took a 3-month sabbatical leave traveling Europe alone. She started off with a full suitcase; but ended up leaving items as she went because her suitcase was too heavy.

Beverly and Roger married in 1974. They built a house on the outskirts of town where they raised their only child, Jayme. Beverly found a love for the desert landscape, planting native seeds, wildflowers and fruit trees. She was best known for her fruit pies, especially mulberry pie. Beverly became a grandma in 2006, filling her days with sewing Disney costumes and outfitting her yard with bikes, pedal cars, swings and anything fun. She otherwise found great joy in genealogy research.

Beverly was well known for her hospitality whether it was entertaining her tea group, family gatherings, birthdays, or our weekly family dinner. She was always ready to host. Beverly loved her inner circle very much; and always put a lot of thought, time and attention to every gift and occasion. She was a staple in her daughter and granddaughter’s daily lives; and will be sorely missed.
