Brian Wayne Tate, 44, our beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Las Vegas. Brian was born to Wayne Tate and Cheryl Lynn Rayl, June 30, 1968, in West Covina, Calif. After graduating from high school, he enlisted for two years in the U.S. Army and four years in the U.S. Navy. In 1994, he married Chiharu Tate and they have a daughter, Erika. Even though Brian and Chiharu divorced, they remained very close. He attended the local vocational training school and became a certified plumber, electrician and HVAC technician. He worked in the local casino industry for years and became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 501 In July 2011, he was hired as an operating engineer at the new VA Hospital in North Las Vegas. Brian loved the outdoors, especially being on the water in his boat at Lake Havasu, or camping and riding ATV's along the Paiute trails in Marysvale, Utah with family and friends. Brian was proceeded in death by his grandparents Bill and Jean Tate, Mary and Del Nye, Bud and Doris Rayl, Richard and Jeanne Cale, Jeanne Bigham, Rich, Les, Howard, Dennis; and cousins Darren, Tyler, and Sean. Brian is survived by his daughter, Erika Lynn Tate; his father, Wayne (Marianne) Tate; mother, Cheryl (Richard) Cale; his sisters, Tammy (Bill) Woods, Meredith Barker, Robin (Justin) Greenhaughl and Megan Chase; his brothers, Justin Macis, Brandan (Ginny) Macis and Rich (Yolan) Cale; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews... "too many to count," as Brian would say. He also has two very special brothers-in-law, Bill Woods and Ray Barker. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas, NV 89101. Veterans memorial ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors program of Las Vegas or any local disabled veterans' organization.
