CARL LAMB Carl Thomas Lamb, 77, a retired banquet /showroom manager, of Las Vegas, passed away October 7, 2011. , Born in Forrest, Miss., Carl Lamb was the sixth of eight children. After a brief time in college, he followed his sisters out west to Nevada. He worked briefly in construction and with a local utility until he secured employment at the legendary Sands Hotel working as a kitchen steward, waiter, showroom captain, and later Maître d'. Carl eventually hung up his tuxedo and finished his career as banquet coordinator for the Culinary Union. He helped many men and women secure work in properties on and off the Las Vegas Strip. He enjoyed being around people, cherished the "Old Vegas" lifestyle and especially loved his family. His most rewarding position in life was that of husband and father. Carl suffered from Alzheimer's disease and though much of his memory was lost, we will forever hold wonderful memories of him in our hearts. Carl will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, appreciation of life and most importantly the pride he had for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Cortez and Annie Mae Lamb; and siblings, Milton Lamb, Lovey McCurdy, Joyce Grayson, Alvin Lamb, and Gary Lamb. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Marjorie McCoy Lamb; his loving children, Debra Walker (Terry), Carlton Lamb (Ida) Sandra Wright (Donald), Janice Brathwaite (Nicholas), Carla Hopkins (Tony), and Carolyn Allen (Andrew); 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bennye Mae Williams and Carrie Merilyn Minor; and many nieces and nephews whom he adored. Visitation was on Monday, October 10. Final viewing will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., all at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North
