Carl E. Partridge

Carl E. Partridge, a long-time resident of the Las Vegas valley, passed away Sept. 30, 2016, at age 86. The eldest of five children, he was born June 16, 1930, in Belle Fourche, S.D., to Stuart and Nellie Partridge. A graduate of Rapid City High School in South Dakota, Carl later received his B.S. in education from Black Hills State University and his master's degree from Northern Arizona University. Carl proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he served overseas as a staff sergeant. During his service in the Air Force, Carl was sent to Penn State University, where he met and later married the love of his life, Lilly. They moved to Las Vegas in 1959 to pursue careers in education. After teaching four years, Carl was appointed principal of Sunrise Acres Elementary School. In 1971, he was responsible for opening Myrtle Tate Elementary School. Carl concluded his career at Ruth Fyfe Elementary School, retiring in 1986 as a well-respected and innovative educator. Carl continued his support of the Clark County School District through his affiliation with the Retired Administrators Association. During his retirement years, he pursued his love of art, travel and family. Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Eldon Partridge; and his sister, Doris Van Den Heede. Carl is survived by his wife, of 63 years, Lilly; his children, Janell Maiorana (Raymond), Stuart Partridge (Melissa Lynne), Scott Partridge (Rhonnie) and Kent Partridge (Angie); his sister, Loretta Caylor; brother, Larry Partridge; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation and Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas. Funeral service will be at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
