Chester Alexander Gregg Jr., 79, passed away Jan. 31, 2016, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born May 13, 1936, in Duluth Minn., he was the eldest of six children born to Chester A. Gregg Sr. and Fern B. Carroll. Chet was a 53-year resident of Las Vegas and a retired battalion chief of the City of Las Vegas Fire Department with 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer, traveler and lover of his 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Kevin Gregg. He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Sharyle; children, Tim (Edna) Gregg, Kristi Urban, Trevor (Marci) Morgan, and Allison (John) Messmore, all of Las Vegas, Trace (Claudia) Gregg of Saudia Arabia, and Dannielle Alires of Twin Falls, Idaho. Chet also leaves behind five siblings, Tom Gregg of Minnesota, Charles Gregg of Arizona, David Gregg of Minnesota, Richard Gregg of Minnesota, and Susan House of Minnesota. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4. Viewing again beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, with service following at 10 a.m. all at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial to follow at Bunkers Memorial Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas
