Clarence Eugene “Gene” Rogers, 86, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully, May 13, 2016, surrounded by his family at the Nathan Adelson Hospice. Gene was born in Phillipsburg, NJ where he attended school. Following graduation from Phillipsburg High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as an Engineman Third Class during the Korean War. He was discharged in California and lived in the Los Angeles (Newhall / Santa Clarita) area, working as a Detective III/Sargeant in the Los Angeles Police Department for 31 years. In 1998, Gene moved to Las Vegas (Summerlin) with his new spouse, Paula Rice Rogers, and enjoyed many years playing golf, fishing, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Claire Hummer Rogers; and by his wife of 40 years, Peggy Charlene Rogers, as well as his youngest brother, Gus. Gene is survived by his wife, Paula; two younger sisters, Evella Mitchell (husband, Paul) and Nancie Bond; younger brother, William Rogers (wife, Marjorie) daughters Cheryl Nestico Sorley and Diana Rogers; grandchildren Nicole, Kristin, Megan, and Eric; four great grandchildren; step-children; nieces; and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 am, June 8, 2016, at Bunkers Memory Garden Cemetery in Las Vegas, NV
