Clyde Lee Swinson

March 2, 1956 — May 1, 2026

Clyde Lee "Duck" Swinson was born on March 2, 1956, in Monroe, Louisiana, to John Henry and Francis Swinson. He was the seventh of seventeen children. Clyde attended Carroll High School, home of the Mighty Bulldogs, where he graduated in 1975 as an All-Star football player. At an early age, Clyde confessed Christ at Travelers Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Smith.

As a young boy, Clyde enjoyed reading books, spending time in the library, and reading the newspaper. He loved staying informed and learning about the world around him. Clyde had a deep passion for football, especially for the Dallas Cowboys, whom he faithfully supported throughout his life. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, relaxing outdoors, enjoying a cold beer, and sharing laughter with family and friends.

Clyde worked for Bayou DeSiard Country Club for many years before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1986. He later became employed at the Aria Hotel, where he faithfully worked at the shoeshine station until he departed this earthly life.

The love Clyde had for his family ran deep and was one of the most important parts of his life. He treasured the bond he shared with his loved ones and found great joy in spending time together, especially during family gatherings, celebrations, cookouts, and social events filled with laughter and love.

He shared a special and unbreakable bond with his sister Minnie, who was truly his right hand. The two enjoyed being together, attending social events, talking, laughing, and creating lasting memories throughout the years. Clyde also held a deep love and protective spirit for his baby sister, Tanya. Her well-being was of great importance to him, and he made sure she felt protected, supported, and genuinely loved throughout his life.

On Friday, May 1, 2026, Clyde answered the Master's call and transitioned peacefully into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Francis Swinson; his siblings, Catherine Gilbert, John Henry Swinson, Jr., Michael Swinson, and Virgil Lee Battle; his favorite uncle, Grady Lee "Shugg" Swinson; and his brother-in-law, Jesse Scott.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Tarris Henry and Horatio Taylor (Breya) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Courtney Pierce of Monroe, Louisiana; seven sisters, Jessie Scott, Minnie Lee (George), Pearline Coleman (Reese), all of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dorothy Swinson, Sandra Tribble (Stanley), Carolyn Brown (Richard), and LaTanya Swinson, all of Monroe, Louisiana; Doris Potter (William) of Arlington, Texas; four brothers, Donald Swinson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Robert Swinson, Kenneth Swinson, and Cedric Swinson, all of Monroe, Louisiana; six loving grandchildren, A'Kella, Jairus, Taraji, Raven, Horatio Jr., and Hayden; and one great-grandson, Kayden. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends also remain to cherish his memory.

Clyde leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, loyalty, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
