Concepcion "Connie" Santo Tomas, 81, of Las Vegas, passed away Aug. 13, 2013. She was born Dec. 8, 1931, in the Ilocos region of the Philippines. She was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a BS degree in nursing. She became a missionary nurse in Tanzania, East Africa, and settled in Las Vegas in 1979, where she worked at Women's Hospital and UMC in the Burn Care Unit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andres, in 2001; her parents; a brother; and two sisters. She is survived by her four daughters, Dina (Michael), Vida (Nestor), Mary (Edward) and Cecile (Ben); and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at St. Francis de Sales, 1111 N. Michael Way. Graveside services to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Bunkers Eden Vale Cemetery, 1216 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
