David Wayne Harvey

November 23, 1957 — February 13, 2023

David Wayne Harvey (65), of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Monday, February 13th, 2023, at 5am. Though named David, he was also known as ‘Dave,” “Bear,” “Uncle Dave,” “Dad,” “Son,” “Baby Brother,” “Big Brother,” and a true light in this world. David was born on November 23rd in the year of 1957 to Rose Lee Harvey and J. R. Harvey in Trenton, New Jersey at Mercer County Hospital. David was the third born or four children. His siblings are Audrey (68), Derrick (66), and Regina (53). After graduating from Radford High School in Oahu, HI, he cultivated a relationship with the kitchen and with the field of culinary arts after taking a home economics class and starting his first cooking job at a country club in Oahu which kickstarted a 40 plus year career in the field.

David quickly became known for his cooking talent and was often referred to a Chef. He was discovered by a prominent Chef of Crown Center (Kansas City, MO) and was authorized to study cuisine in which his Sous Chef status was birthed. Later moving to Las Vegas, he received honorary recognition from Applebee’s restaurant for menu enhancements, presented dishes, and leadership with work teams. Receiving many accolades for his culinary skills, working at various venues in various states, David left a mark not only in the kitchen but with the people he worked with and supervised.

In 1981, David met Hedy Joyce Davis (married August 15th, 1981) in Kansas City, MO. Though later divorced, David and Hedy went on to raise and pour into their four amazing children, Desmond (47), Tresa (44), Sheena (38), and Edna (27).

David is survived by his mother, Rose Johnson, father, Walter Johnson, his loving siblings (Audrey, Derrick, and Regina), ex-wife, and children. Along with immediate family, he will be missed by various members of his family (nieces, nephews, grandchildren, etc.) from each coast and region of the country.

We love you. We miss you. You will not be forgotten
