David William Hoagland

David (Dave) William Hoagland quietly passed away March 2, 2023 with his loving wife and son and close friends at his side at the Sunrise Hospital. He was 73 years old living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dave was born on June 19, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the first son of William Alden Hoagland and Eleanor Mae Fassman Hoagland. Four siblings followed: James Alden Hoagland, Katherine Anne Hanson, Joanne Eleanor Newsome, and Christine Joyce Jones.

Dave married his sweetheart Eva Jane Dawson of 49 years on March 21, 1974 at the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Dave and Eva have one son, Paul David Hoagland living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dave received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1977 from The University of Utah. Dave served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for two years in the California North Mission.

Dave and Eva lived in Burbank, California for 12 years than spent the rest of his years in Las Vegas, Nevada. David worked as a retail clerk at the CVS Drug Store (and other affiliates) for 38 years until he retired.

Dave enjoyed his retirement serving at the Las Vegas Temple as an ordinance worker, served many years volunteering for Catholic Charities with Meals on Wheels, and many years as a Poll Worker for every National and Local Election.

David’s favorite past-times are was being the biggest FAN of the Las Vegas Minor League Baseball teams! First it was Las Vegas 51’s and now the Las Vegas Aviators. He loved the excitement of the games, the Hot Dogs and of course the Cracker Jacks!

His other hobbies were gardening, watching and feeding birds, painting ceramics, and purchasing and displaying holiday knick-knacks for every holiday! He loved walking and would pick up bottles and cans for recycling which would also help clean up the neighborhood.

Dave loved Solar Lights and Yard Art! His back yard is magical at night with all the colors and unique yard art that graces his back yard.

Dave is survived by his wife, Eva and his son Paul (Las Vegas, NV), his mother of 93-years old, Eleanor Hoagland (Bountiful, UT), his brother James Hoagland (Las Vegas, NV) and his three sisters, Katherine and Jay Hanson (Springville, UT), Joanne and Bobby Newsome (Washington, UT) and Christine and Steve Jones (Salt Lake City, UT).

He will be truly missed by his family and close friends.
