DELLA LEAVITT WEBER BUNKER

Della was born on August 5th, 1914 in Bunkerville, Nevada. She was the 3rd child of 11 born to Parley Glen Leavitt & Martha Lovena Hafen.

Della met and married Walter Weber on June 18, 1935. He had been working in the Virgin Valley area with the CCCamp (Civilian Conservation Corps) helping to build the roads and dams in that area. Walter became known by many as Slim. It wasn’t very long after they were married that Slim went to work in the Boulder City area on the Hoover Dam. It was during this time that Della and Slim wrote many letters back and forth to each other expressing their love and that they missed each other dearly. Della and Slim had two boys. Walter Glen born in St. George, Utah on September 21, 1936.  And William Russell born in Pioche, Nevada on August 25, 1939.

Walter Weber passed away on February 5, 1966. Della married James Bunker on May 19, 1967. He passed away June 2, 1968.

Della was a great cook, great seamstress and an avid quilt maker. She made quilts for all the new babies, for anyone who was getting married or to just say thank you. She called her puff quilts that she made, cuddle quilts.  She made quilts till she was 93 years old. She loved her yard, her flowers and her roses. She wouldn’t let you leave until she cut you a big bouquet to take home.

Della has spent over a year and a half at the ranch under the care of Annie. Who has been truly devoted to making her last days wonderful.
