Don T. Walker

June 3, 1939 — August 16, 2013

Don Travis Walker, 74, of Las Vegas, passed away Aug. 16, 2013, at Mountain View Hospital. He was born June 3, 1939, in Hugo, Okla., the son of the late Anna Mae Richards and J.T. Walker. Youngest of two siblings. He graduated from Langston University in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis. After he was discharged, he was employed by the Nevada Test Site as a communications firefighter specialist for 44 years, retiring in 2007. He was a professional photographer and Nevada historian. He is survived by his daughter, S. LaDawn Urso and son-in-law, Carl Urso of Las Vegas; son, Robert Williams-Walker of Las Vegas; granddaughters, BreShawna and Andree Atkinson; four great-grandchildren of Las Vegas; brother, Richard Jamerson of Marietta, Ga.; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 9025 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Graveside services will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
