CMSGT. DON WHITTEN U.S. Air Force, Retired CMSgt. Don R. Whitten passed away March 27, 2011. He was born in Lueedale, Miss., Sept. 9, 1927, and was a resident of Las Vegas for over 38 years. Don retired as a chief master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of service. He served 13 remote assignments and received a Bronze Star for service in Vietnam in addition to other awards and honors. Don is survived by his wife, Helen; two cousins, Jackie Lassitee of Florida, and Maxin Parr of Iowa; as well as nieces and nephews in southern California. Viewing will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Services will be at 1:20 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
