Doris Oren "Dobie" Head went to be with his Lord and Savior, and beloved wife, Neva, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. He was born April 10, 1920, in Rose Bud, Ark., of farm parents, Walter and Flora Lea Head. Dobie dropped out of school in the sixth grade, but graduated Barber College after marriage to Neva, working as a barber, and later a shop owner in Las Vegas, and North Las Vegas, until retirement. Along with his wife, children and grandchildren, Dobie was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and bowler. He excelled in bowling, bowling his last game in December 2012 at age 92. He never ceased to be a dedicated Christian man, loving husband and father. Dobie is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Griffin and husband, Jesse of Henderson; daughter, Johnny Ruth Pennell and husband, Don of Springdale, Ark.; his son, Donald Head and wife, Sharon of Peoria, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, including two deceased; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Rev. Rob Boyd, of Green Valley Baptist Church, is officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in the Memory of Dobie Head, to the Green Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 270 Valle Verde, Henderson, NV 89074.
