Dorothy C. Shanley (nee McGregor), died peacefully May 1, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas, after a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Washington, D.C. March 18, 1929. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Cross and attended Strayer Business College. Dorothy was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering in the outreach center. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, Francis M. "Mike" Shanley. She is survived by two children, John Aloysius Shanley of Annapolis, Md., and Mary Sharon Shanley of Las Vegas. Sharon was her primary caregiver during the last few weeks of her life and no one could have done more for her. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Genevieve, Nicole, Joseph and Marilyn; and by four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Collin, Andrew and Ryleigh. She is also survived by her sister, Florence McDaniel of Virginia Beach, Va. She was a beautiful, caring person and her deepest regret was that she didn't live nearer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but she was much loved by them all, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial services will be private at a later date.
