Dorothy V. (Shoaff) Stephens

Dorothy Shoaff Stephens, 91, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died July 9, 2022, in Las Vegas, after a lengthy hospital stay.

Dorothy was raised in Russell, Kansas and graduated from Russell High School in 1949.

She married Clifford Edward Stephens in 1953 and had one child, Mark Edward Stephens born June 10, 1954.  She was divorced in 1957.

Dorothy  is survived by her son Mark, older sister Barbara Majernik (98), Nephews John Majernik. Stephen Shoaff, Daniel Shoaff, Brian Shoaff, niece Delicia Shoaff, grand-nephews David Shoaff and Darrell Shoaff, Mathew Majernik, Grand-niece Briana Royalty, plus Mike and Lisa Marudus, Charles Moore and Charles Johnson.

She is preceded by her father, Charles L. Shoaff, mother Ruth Shoaff, brothers Charles Shoaff,  George Shoaff, Samuel Shoaff, niece Jane Majernik, nephew Donny Shoaff and grand-niece Allison Shoaff.

Like many Las Vegas transplants in the 1960s, her jobs were in the food and beverage and casino services industry, serving as hostess at Tip Top Drive-in, then Cocktail Waitress at the Golden Nugget and the Aladdin, and wrapping up her career as a PBX operator at the Vegas Club.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing and repairing/patching clothes for the neighborhood kids and taking on a number of home improvement and repair projects.  She also enjoyed watching her son drag racing motorcycles and race cars and hanging out with other fellow racers.

Visitation will be Monday July 25, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Bunker Brothers, 925 Las Vegas Boulevard North, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 26. 2022 at 11:00 AM also at Bunker Brothers.  Interment will follow at Davis Cemetery and Memorial Park, 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Pallbearers will include Mark Stephens, Rob Erbert, Charles Moore, Bob Beam, Charles “Skip” Johnson
