Dwaine Robert McConnell, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, due to injuries sustained in a fall. He was born May 19, 1938, to Aldis and Eva McConnell. He was a truck driver for 30 years and also worked as a mechanic for many years. He played baseball in his youth and at 21 was offered a contract with the Cleveland Indians farm team. He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Diane; children, Dwaine Jr. (JoAnne), Scott (Jennifer), Mark (Dorothy), Cindy (Don) and Douglas; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Eileen, Doral and Neva; and numerous nieces and nephews, many referring to him as their favorite uncle. Dwaine will be sorely missed by his friends and loving family. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 N. Las Vegas Blvd. Burial following at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 Lone Mountain Road.
