Reflections On the Life of

Earsie Faye Martin

Earsie “Faye” Martin was born on October 3, 1930 to Essie Lee Coffey and Wade French in Ashdown, Arkansas.  She attended Little River County Training School from elementary through high school and graduated in May, 1948.

After high school, Faye moved to San Diego, California. She married Andrew Henderson, and  to this union two children were born, Jerone and Sheila. While in San Diego, Faye joined the Retail Clerks Local Union 1222 and began working for a major supermarket chain, retiring with over 30 years service.  In January 1977, she married Clarence “Charlie” Martin, her much beloved husband of 43+ years.  With this union, she  gained a bonus daughter, Nancy.

Faye and her beloved Charlie truly enjoyed venturing out on periodic adventures to play the slot machines in Las Vegas.  She also loved watching baseball games with Charlie on TV, alongside their cat Lucky.  Faye was an exceptional grill master in the barbecue arts.  Her barbecue was ever so tasty — very memorably so!

Faye transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, April 27, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Martin; her parents and seven siblings Robert, Willie Mae, Henry, Bobbie, Edward, George “Sonny,” and Jeanette.

She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish the memories her son Jerone Henderson; daughters Sheila Henderson and Nancy (Dennis) Ferrill; beloved grandsons Ahmad (Diana) Steele,  AJ (Larissa) Ferrill and Cabot (Katelyn) Ferrill; four great-grandchildren Kaylen and Kattelyn Gonzalez-Steele and Lauren and Olivia Ferrill; cousin TC Lewis; sister-in-law Diane (Ron) Dunham; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends.  She was and is loved and will be missed by all.
