Elizabeth Fay "Betty" Lundgren (nee Gillette), age 81, long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. She was born Aug. 24, 1935, to Stuart G. and Virginia F. (nee Salisbury) Gillette, in Lowell, Mass. Later known by her maiden name Pavell, Betty and her family relocated to Las Vegas when she was 11 years of age. She attended Las Vegas Grammar School and Las Vegas High School where she graduated with the class of 1953. Betty married her high school sweetheart and life-long love, Robert H. Lundgren, Valentine's Day, 1954. Her successful journey through life began with four children followed by many business adventures. Her greatest achievement in business ownership, alongside Robert, was the purchase of Clarence Ingram Hardware Supply, Inc. in the 1970s. This ultimately gave way to a life filled with joy and adventure. Her many enjoyments in life included traveling, fishing, gardening and vacationing with family and friends at her second home near the Oregon Coast. She also loved cooking, almost as much as she loved adding to her massive collection of cookbooks! She was strong-willed, had quite the tough exterior and wasn't often the first cookie to crumble under pressure. Also being very quick-witted, there weren't many conversations to be had with Betty that didn't end with a smart remark and a smirk or a chuckle. She had a selfless attribute about herself and spent much of her life sharing her happiness and success with family and friends by giving freely and without question. Betty leaves her mark in the hearts and lives of many people whom, through her, have experienced moments in life that they may not have experienced otherwise. All done simply because she was able. The mark of an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother and friend. One who will be greatly missed by many and remembered by all. Betty was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Neta (nee Googins) Salisbury; parents, Stuart and Virginia (nee Salisbury) Gillette; husband, Robert H. Lundgren; son, Robert K. Lundgren; and brother, John Pavell. She is survived by her daughter, Katharine (nee Lundgren) Edwards; son, Bryan Lundgren; daughter, Brenda Lundgren; grandchildren, Jeremy (Amanda) Lundgren, Susannah (Lewis Widrig Jr.) Wessing, Robbie Boyer and David Boyer; great-grandchildren, Harmony, Victoria, Collin, Ava, Lizzy and Adalie; two nieces; one grandniece, and many close friends. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Bunkers Memory Garden Cemetery Chapel, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89129. Graveside service following, with Pastor Frank Holland, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ICLV South Gate, 6620 W. Katie AVe., Las Vegas, NV 89103. Betty's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Prestige Senior Living at Mira Loma, for their kindness and compassion. The care she received during her stay was exceptional, "Thank you."
