Emile Mike Smith Sr (Smithy), loving husband, father, brother, uncle, Opa, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 72. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna Marie Smith, sister Meggie Smulders, Paul Smulders, brother in law, his children: Jayson, Jonathan, Emile Jr., Erica, Sylvia; daughter-in-laws Diana, Michelle, and Traci, nieces Mandy Van Der Heide and Vanessa Smulders. Emile was a proud grandfather (Opa) to Dominic, Alexx, Katie-Bell, Jayme, Kaia, Jaxson, Luke, and Stella. Emile was preceded in death by his mother Ida Smith. Aside from spending his life with his best friend, Donna, being an Opa was Emile's greatest adventure and joy in life.
Emile was born on October 6th, 1949 in Indonesia and later made his way to the U.S. after his travels to Holland and Canada. He lived in Riverside, CA for 35 years while raising his beautiful family. After 30 years of service, Emile retired from American Airlines. Emile and Donna then embarked on their newest adventure when they moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2019. There, they enjoyed a life of fun and excitement together. Emile was a joyful soul who loved to joke, dance, and listen to music. He was an avid sports fan who loved hockey, golf, and soccer. He enjoyed the outdoors with his family when they ventured on camping trips to go fishing. Emile was a one-of-kind man who was extremely giving, loving, kind, and always put family first. He will be sorely missed, but family and friends will cherish the amazing memories made during his life. His legacy will live on in each and everyone of us. Rest in peace, Emile Mike Smith Sr.
Service will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary located at: 925 Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Please send flowers or other tributes to the mortuary directly. A small reception will be held immediately after the services for friends and family from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Flamingo West ClubHouse located at 8122 W Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas NV, 89147. Please enter 226 "call" and you will be admitted through the gate. Upon entering, turn left and park immediately on your left-hand side and follow signs to ClubHouse.
