Ernestina (Gaona) Manig

Ernestina Manig, 95, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully in her home on August 12, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021

Family only 4:00pm - 5:00pm.

Public 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

Evangelist Sandra Lucero will host a special tribute 6:30pm - 7:00pm

Funeral services will be held 10:30am – 11:45am Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Bunkers Mortuary 925 Las Vegas Blvd North (Washington and Las Vegas Blvd) with Pastor Monica Manig of New Antioch Christian Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow at Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Bunkers Mortuary.

Ernestina was born in Torreon, Mexico to Pedro Gaona and Maria Luisa Flores on May 4, 1926. She completed school in Chihuahua, Mexico. She married Salvador Manig in 1961 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked as a housekeeper for El Cortez, Hotel & Casino for 20 years. She served as a prayer warrior and church mother at Vegas View, Church of God in Christ New Antioch Christian Fellowship and resent Harvest of Faith, Church of God in Christ.

Ernestina was a vibrant person who enjoyed her life and loved her family. Growing up in Mexico she enjoyed horseback riding, playing basketball and bike riding. She also worked as a nurse in Mexico.

Here in Las Vegas Ernestina was known as Mama Tina. A mother to all who knew her and she was generous in sharing her Godly wisdom.

Her friends and family knew of her love for music, dancing, and cooking. She was an excellent cook who kept her recipes a secret.

She loved music, dancing, and large gatherings with family and friends. Ernestina had a sweet tooth and loved Chinese food buffets.

She loved her role as church mother and took care of all those she found in need. She had a big heart and wouldn’t let anyone leave her home empty handed. She was a joy and a light to her family and will be deeply missed.

Ernestina is preceded in death by her husband Salvador Manig, 1975. Her daughter Ernestina Romero, 1982, and her mother Maria Luisa Flores, 2001.

Ernestina is survived by her son Mario (Sylvia) Gaona, her daughter Jeanette (Miguel) Villalpando, her son Julio Romero, her son Juan Romero,  her son Jesus (Carmela) Romero, her daughter Margarita (José) Casteñeda, her daughter Sandra (José) Lucero, her daughter Monica Manig and her sister Raquel Pickett. She also leaves behind 26 grandchildren and 40 plus great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Salvador Amezquita, Julio Romero Jr., Brice Bonvicin, Savauhn Mendez, Nicholas Manig, Patrick Romero-Frisby,

Aiden Fernandez, & Chis Bonvicin.

Memorials may be given to Bunkers Mortuary 925 Las Vegas Blvd North, Las Vegas, NV  89101

Cards can be sent to the family at 1072 Sweetgrass Ct, Henderson NV 89002.

The family of Ernestina Manig wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Art Saberola of Intermountain Healthcare, Nurse Krezo Delacruz  and CNA Tiana of Compassion Care Hospice, Personal home health aide Yuri Cardoza, Sister Vanessa Johnson, Dorothy Oliver, Harvest of Faith Church of God In Christ, and New Antioch Christian Fellowship.

Due to COVID restrictions there will be no repast after the funeral services.
