Denika’s final words

My grandfather was the best man in the whole wide world. He was firm, but gentle at the same time. He was very smart and very hands-on. He would stop anything in the world if we needed him, he cannot do no wrong in my eyes he was and he is my angel. I love you. I love you more than anyone can ever imagine. Thank you for showing me teaching me and helping me to become the person I am today rest in heaven.

His great granddaughter Za’Ryahs final words

I love granddad.  you was a dad to me and I’m sad that you are gone now, hopefully you have a great life in heaven. Thank you for teaching me how to walk and how to ride my bike in the alley and teaching me how to roller skate, thank you for caring for me and making me beans and rice, Gordon Ramsay would love your food. I’m going to miss that food no one can make it like you. Ps I have one of your hats that I will keep forever I love you, granddaddy. Ryah

I love you way more than you actually knew. Even with so much distance for years I never once felt disconnected from you. I’ll miss you saying how proud you are of me & giving me lectures on keeping it up. Whenever I do have to describe you the first thing that comes to mind is ‘a man’s man’, the true definition of a man. From your always calm demeanor (even in chaotic moments) to how you can fix any & everything and your always there to help no matter what. You are a real life superhero. I’ll miss hearing “hi pretty brown eyes how are you”. I would do anything to hear that again & to have the best beans & rice in the world you make. Knowing the type of active man you have always been I know you’re happy to not be in pain anymore and that makes me happy on the days that feel dark. Keep me sane and helping through this thing called life, I love you and can’t wait till next time.
