Eulalia Ilene (Bartels) McCamly passed away on November 17, 2025, at 101 years old, in West Covina, California. She was born Jan. 2, 1924, during a blizzard outside Gettysburg, South Dakota. Her parents Alvin (decd.) and Eva (decd.) Bartels raised her and her three siblings on a farm there.
She went on to marry David Frank McCamly (decd.) on April 19, 1940. They had six children, Yvonne, Francis (decd.), Sharon, Ethel (decd.), Terry, and Dixie. Eulalia had the rare privilege of being one of very few families worldwide with 6 living generations. She had 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and even a few great, great, great grandchildren, which was remarkable.
To know Eulalia was to love her, she was a spitfire through and through and her tiny 5 foot frame carried with it years of hard work, a touch of orneriness, a fierce competitiveness, and a whole lot of love.
The McCamly’s left the farm in South Dakota and moved to Las Vegas in 1962. Eulalia worked as a telephone operator at Centel phone company, she retired in 1986, but that didn’t last long. She liked to work and went on to part time jobs at Daylight Donuts, San Fransisco Sally’s Bridal Shop, delivering Avon, and even writing and publishing her life story “Me Laala.”
In her spare time Eulalia loved to play games; cards, pool, dice, but especially bowling. She was at the lanes several times a week until she was 99, and was still one of the most consistent bowlers out there. Looking back at her amazing life, it's clear, she truly lived.
