Florence S. Atkinson

Florence Steele Atkinson, 96, went to be with the Lord April 15, 2013. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, April 26, 1916. She was a homemaker and resident of Las Vegas from 1941 until her death. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, of 51 years, Lawrence Atkinson; and son, Robert Atkinson. As a long-time resident of Las Vegas, she lived to see the tremendous growth and change in the community. As a mother, she was active in both Girl and Boy Scouts. Her passion was golfing and she was a member of the Sahara Nevada Golf Club. Her later years were lived in Henderson. She is survived her daughter, Nancy Atkinson Lattin of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Barry Atkinson of Austin, Jeffrey Atkinson, Julie Wieting-Atkinson, Amy Lockhead and Susan Atkinson, all of Las Vegas. A special thanks to her friend and caregiver, Linda Chesnik. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 20, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
