Frances Nola Fagan

Frances Nola (Stover) Fagan, 86, passed away in Las Vegas, June 20, 2012. She was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Cleveland, the eldest child of Paul J. and Iona Blanche (Scramlin) Stover. A resident of Las Vegas for more than 30 years, Fran retired in 1999 from EG&G Special Projects, where she was an executive secretary for 14 years. She spent the next four years working as an independent consultant on their proposal teams. Fran was a member of the Desert Sands Business & Professional Women's Organization and of Boy Scout Troop 276 and Cub Scout Pack 606. She was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Active in both Boy and Girl Scouts beginning in 1958, she served in many capacities over the next 20 years, including den mother, Girl Scout leader; and committee member. Fran and her husband started the Cub Scout Pack for the United States Army in Verdun, France. Fran has been an active member of the BPW since 1985. She has served as president of the Desert Sands Local numerous times, as Southern District director and as president of the Nevada Federation. Returning to active scouting in 2006, Fran served as a den leader and committee member for Cub Scout Pack 606 and as committee chair for Boy Scout Troop 276. In 2011, she received the Sunhawk District Award of Merit. She was also among the first to be honored as one of the "Influential Women in Scouting." In March 2012, she received the Las Vegas Area Boy Scout Council's highest award, the Silver Beaver. She was also a Merit Badge counselor and served on the Las Vegas Area Council's Eagle Scout Board of Review. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Fagan; her son, William Thomas Fagan; her grandson, Matthew Thomas Lynn; and her brother, James Vale Stover. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alice (Fagan) and William Lynn of Henderson; her son, Michael Fagan; daughter, Eileen (Fagan) Wood, both of Las Vegas; daughter-in-law, Carole (Busch) Fagan, of Frankfurt, Germany; grandsons, Jeffrey Lynn and his wife, Liesel (Schrodt), of Warner-Robbins, Ga., and Thomas Wood and Timothy Wood, both of Las Vegas. She is also survived by two sisters, Irene Lafond of Cleveland, and Nancy Stankiewicz of Diamond Bar, Calif.; brother, Allan Stover and his wife, Jean Ann, of The Villages, Fla.; and nine nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
