Frances N. Wood, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away on March 29, 2019.

Frances Nannette Wood was born April 5, 1942, in Northwood, North Dakota. The daughter of Allan and Amanda Knain, she was the youngest girl of nine children. Her mother was a homemaker and her father, a grain silo operator.

Frances graduated from Northwood High School in 1960 and received a two-year standard degree from what was then Mayville State Teachers college in 1962. She was united in marriage to John L. Wood on July 18, 1962 in Missoula, Montana. Frances taught elementary school in North Dakota and Idaho while also having 3 sons. In June of 1968, the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Frances was a homemaker until she worked as a secretary and accountant for a builder's supply company and a building maintenance company until she suffered a debilitating stroke in 1977.
Throughout her life, Frances always defied the odds. She not only survived the stroke in 1977, but she battled back and thrived as a great and loving mother, godmother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always had unconditional love for her family and friends.

Frances is survived by her son George Wood and daughter in law Beth Wood, sons Daniel Wood and Matthew Wood. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kristina Wood, Ashleigh Wood-Harvey, Michelle Fairfield, Jake Fairfield, Lindsey VanRuiten, Jessica VanRuiten, Anthony Aguilar, and great grandchildren Harper, Gabriel, and Sicily.

A memorial service will be held at Bunker's Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd N, Las Vegas, NV 89101, at 1:00 PM on May 11, 2019. A reception will be held after at Skinny Dugans, 4127 West Charleston Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to a local hospice facility, or animal rescue.
