FRANCISCO ALVAREZ Francisco Alvarez, of Las Vegas, loving husband, brother, father and grandfather, went home to his Lord Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. He was born March 10, 1926, in Waelder, Texas. He answered the call of duty, like many of the Great Generation, and fought for his nation in World War II in the Pacific theater. He later arrived in Las Vegas, and he worked at both Nellis A.F.B. and the Casino Food and Beverage industry. He then met the love of his life, Elvia. Francisco was preceded in death by his father, Jose; mother, Santos; brothers, Daniel, Jose, Jesse and Armando; and sister, Dolores. He is survived by his loving wife, Elvia; sister, Mary and Lydia; son, Alexander; daughters, Victoria and Lily; son-in-law, Shane; and loving grandchildren, Joshua, Arlicia, Lauren, Salvador and Caia. Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd N. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Guardian Angel Cathedral, 302 Cathedral Way. Burial will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. He will be greatly missed.
