Frank Picini, of Las Vegas, passed away June 6, 2016. He was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and Louise Picini. He spent his early years working in a butcher shop in Brooklyn, where he met Lillian. He joined the U.S. Navy at 18 years old. Returning from the Navy, Lilly and Frank were married and Frank opened his own butcher shop on Fulton St. Lilly and Frank raised their family in Brooklyn. They eventually moved to Las Vegas, where Frank worked as head butcher at the Riviera, Caesars Palace and Rio hotels, where he was often called "Frankie the Butcher." His interests included family, carpentry, bowling, reading, dancing, playing cards and Bingo. He devoted much of his time and energy to taking care of family members. His charm and wit could enlighten any given moment. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his eight siblings; and his only grandson, John. Frank is survived by his wife, Lillian Picini; son, John Picini; daughter, Louise (Jack) Tomai; two grandchildren, Jamie and Michelle; great-grandchildren; and countless family and friends.
