Fred Blackwell

March 16, 1937 — October 9, 2011

Fred Blackwell was born March 16, 1937 in Morton, Mississippi to Charlie and Dessie Blackwell. He joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until he moved to Las Vegas, NV. He joined Second Baptist Church in Las Vegas in 1956 under the leadership of Rev. VCL Coleman.
He was united in holy matrimony to Olivia Blackwell and from this union four children were born: Freddie Blackwell- Barnes, Sherie Anise Blackwell, Tammy Blackwell-Witt, and Kenneth Ray Blackwell, all of Las Vegas, NV.
Fred worked at Stauffer Chemical Company for 30 years, until he retired.
Fred is preceded in death by his daughter-Sherie Blackwell; parents-Charlie & Dessie Blackwell; Three brothers-Lee Blackwell, Charles Blackwell & Melvin Blackwell; Four sisters-Mellie White, Elizabeth Longs, Mary McCoy, & Mazie Nichols.
Fred leaves to cherish his memories: A loving and devoted wife-Olivia Blackwell, three children-Freddie (John) Barnes, Tammy (Bobby) Witt, and Kenneth (Tirina) Blackwell; one brother-Billy Blackwell (Las Vegas, NV), two sisters-Emma Wilson (Las Vegas, NV), Lillie (Wilbur) McCoy (Morton, MS), Mother-in-law Rivers Cason, two sister-in-laws-Atlene McLemore, and Peggy Bailey,  three brother-in-laws, Prentess McCoy (Morton, MS), Junior Rogers (Las Vegas, NV), and Willie(Dorothy) Brown (Houston, TX).
Fred has six grandchildren: Crystal D. Clark, Torrejon Blackwell, Ja’Tarey Thomas, Shamonix Blackwell, Ta’Tiana Blackwell and De’Jon Blackwell and Two great grandchildren. He also leaves a host of beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and church family.
