Gary Gardner

GARY GARDNER Gary Alan Gardner, 66, passed away Aug. 23, 2015, at his home, in Las Vegas. Gary was born Sept. 21, 1948, in Oklahoma City, to Doris "Lee" and Rex Gardner. He grew up in Chickasha, Okla., later moving to Omaha, Neb. He graduated from Burke High School and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. While he earned a minor in music, it remained his lifelong passion. A drummer, he played with The Commodores, his high school band in the 60's. Gary spent a 35-year career in banking following in the footsteps of his father and beloved grandfather. He served as a senior officer for several banks in Oklahoma and Nevada. Gary is survived by his daughters, Kristen Wakley and her husband, Bo Wakley, and Courtney Gardner and her fiance, Chris Yuriar; five grandchildren; and cousins, Joe and Mike Preston, who were like brothers to Gary. Gary will be deeply missed by all his friends and family. Celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at Canyon Ridge Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain.
