Gary Lee Sims

Gary Lee Sims, Age 79 was called home to our lord on March 22nd, 2022 in Henderson, Nevada.

Gary was born October 11th, 1942 in Niagara Falls, New York to father Clarence Sims and is survived by his 100-year-old mother Elsie Sims, who is currently living in Henderson Nevada, with whom he chose to look after and provide her with the opportunity to remain happy in her own home under his loving care. They had a special bond that will transcend through time.

He grew up as the eldest of three brothers, Gary is survived by Greg and Kevin Sims.

Gary is also survived by, and was the proud father of three children, Daughters: Kari Vaughn, Erika Tomaszewski and son, Darin Sims along with seven grandchildren Alexis, Macy, Carter, Carson, Harris, Skyler and Nixon. He was a loving father who always cherished time with his children and embraced conversations with them whenever possible. He was a single father who raised his kids to be loving, independent and kind. Anyone who knew Gary, knew his children were his most important priority and he always made reference to how proud he was of his three children. Being a father was his greatest joy and he was never shy of letting those around him know how much he loved his kids.

He embraced being tasked with jobs of servicing others and always put others before himself, he took pride in helping those in need around him especially those he loved dearly.

Gary had a passion for fixing anything that presented a challenge and he had a unique ability to transform broken and forgettable things into new and sometimes extraordinary useful alternatives. His knack for seeing things outside the box gave him a clear understanding of how he could renew what was no longer considered fruitful in others eyes, Gary understood the importance of transformation and construction and this was obvious in his love for mechanics and engineering. His amazing patience and ability to see things from a different perspective gave him a sense of pride and confidence with everything his hands touched. It truly was his love language.

Gary also had a desire to travel to Ireland and was planning a trip with his longtime girlfriend Nancy Bortolussi whom he loved and shared many plans for the future, unfortunately those plans were cut short with his departing.  We know now he is soaring over the beautiful grassy knolls of Ireland, or making guardian angel visits with loved ones while permanently taking residence in heaven.

Gary was loved, by his family and friends but he was loved most by his lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Gary loved the lord and in knowing this, he was not afraid, he was strong in his convictions and kind in his service. We will miss you Gary, Dad, Son Brother, and friend. May your spirit continue to bring a smile and joy to our lives as we remember you and your life of loving memories.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 14th, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oasis Baptist Church, 1620 West Sunset Road, Henderson, Nevada 89014
