George Henry Milford, 85, returned to his Heavenly Father Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, where he was reunited in spirit with his eternal companion and first wife, Ruth Perry Milford. He was born March 27, 1931, to Hazel Georgia and Jessie Herbert Milford in Fort Sumner, N.M. He married Ruth Perry Aug. 22, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas. They were married for 66 years. George had multiple careers from cowboy to casino manager. He owned a gasoline service station for 20 years. George joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1958 and was an active member his whole life. He was devoted to serving others and known for telling jokes. He enjoyed drag racing, water skiing, boating, dirt bike riding and four-wheeling. At the age of 84, George married Shirley Leavitt, who was at his side when he passed. George is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Mark and his wife, Lorilyn; daughter, Georgia and her husband, Kevin Holden; eight grandchildren (five spouses); 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jess Milford Jr. (Dolores); sister, Nancy (Kenny) Cobb; three nieces; and four nephews.Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, with service following at 11 a.m., both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Gateway and Wyoming Chapel, 4040 E.
