George C. Reilly Jr., 87, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Sept. 19, 2013. He was born in Long Beach, Calif., and raised in Omaha, Neb. He was a football running back at Creighton Prep. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer escort in the Pacific during World War II. George was a 57-year resident of Las Vegas. He retired from the Desert Inn Hotel after 35 years as a bell captain. George loved music. He loved singing at church and in barbershop quartets with his brother,, Brian. George was a master billiards champion. He was a funny guy who was known for laughing at his own jokes. He was a good and gentle man who spent his life helping others. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vera Reilly; his brother, Brian Reilly; and his sister, Maryann Lane Glassmyer. George is survived by his beloved wife, of 62 years, Anne Reilly; his loving daughter, Beverly Reilly (husband, Curt Weisshart); loving granddaughter, Brigette Lee Wells (husband, Brian Wells); great-grandchildren, Gretchen Wells and Indiana Wells. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St., North Las Vegas, NV 89030. Interment ceremony will immediately follow Mass at Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89129. George left a rich legacy for those who knew and loved him.
