Gwendolyn Abbott Truscott, born Sept. 27, 1935 to Rulon Sidney Abbott and Thelma McKnight Abbott, passed away Oct. 24, 2012, in Las Vegas. She was raised in Mesquite and graduated from Virgin Valley High School. She then went to BYU, where she graduated in the field of education. She met Carroll Truscott from Helper, Utah while she lived in Provo. They were married in the St. George Temple March 16, 1957. They lived in Helper the early part of their married life, where Gwen had their five children, Randy, Dale, Sandra, Allen and Clayton. After a few years, they moved to Las Vegas where Gwen began teaching school. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was very active there all her life. She served as a teacher, organist and Temple worker. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Garth; a sister, Cindy; and granddaughter, Sheena. She is survived by her husband, Carroll; her five children; two brothers, Sheldon and Lynn; four sisters, Kathryn, Julia, Joyce and Phyllis, and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at LDS Chapel, 827 Temple View Drive, Las Vegas. Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Mesquite City Cemetery, Mesquite.
