H. Wayne Earl

June 21, 1926 — June 16, 2011

Harold Wayne Earl passed away of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas on June 15, 2011, surrounded by family.  He is survived by his wife Dolly Loretta Earl, his sister LaVetta “Betty” Butler, his children Donald Wayne Earl, Bryan Ellis Earl, Lea Jayne Calicich, Mary Elizabeth Earl and Adla Christine Earl, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.   He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Lori Marie and his siblings Carlyle, Murdell, Tracy, Lyman, Mattie, Opal and Evan.  He was born on June 21, 1926 in St. George, Utah, the youngest of nine children of Joseph William Earl and Ada Philena Canfield Earl.  He graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1944, served in the United States Navy during the post-World War II period, including serving a tour in Japan, attended Dixie Junior College in St. George, Utah and graduated from the Capitol College of Pharmacy in Denver, Colorado.  He worked as a local pharmacist in Las Vegas for over fifty years. As a young man, he was active in the Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce), at one point serving as President of the North Las Vegas Chapter, and in the Las Vegas Little Theatre.  He was named “Outstanding Young Man of the Year” for North Las Vegas in 1956.   He married Dolly Loretta Green on June 15, 1960 in Las Vegas, a marriage that was later solemnized in the LDS temple in St. George, Utah and was blessed with six children.  He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father and grandfather who spent the vast majority of his time and energy throughout his life supporting his immediate and extended family in their many endeavors.  He was also active in the LDS Church and in the Las Vegas community, rendering service to many people in need for many years.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Those who would like to pay their respects are invited to a viewing at Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 3-7 pm.  An additional viewing will be held at 9 am on June 22, 2011 at the LDS chapel on the corner of Arville and Pennwood streets, with a memorial service following at 10 am.  His body will be laid to rest alongside those of other family members in St. George, Utah.
