Harriet (nee Helms) Sellers, 93, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, Jun 3, 2015, at her daughter's home under hospice care. She was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Malvern, Ark., to Harry D. and Mattie Maude (nee Irion) Helms. Harriet has lived in Las Vegas since 1964. She graduated from Malvern High School in 1939, where she was on the women's basketball team, the Library Club, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was married in 1940, to Eugene Elwood Rowe (deceased) and had two sons, Breal Eugene Rowe and James Franklin Rowe. She moved to southern California in the late 1940's and married Russell Sellers in 1950. They were hitched at the Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas and later moved here in 1964. Daughters Sherry Jean and Linda Kay were born in California. Russ and Harriet owned a Shell gas station at Lake Mead and Nellis until Russ' death in 1970. She kept the books for the station and then did office and clerical work until working for the CCSD school district. Harriet was retired from CCSD where she was school banker at Western High School from 1973-1992. She enjoyed her job at Western High School. She balanced all the various school club accounts and had various duties. She developed lifelong friendships with her co-workers. Harriet was always great with numbers and had a sharp mind. She loved crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Harriet also loved her family very much. She always looked forward to travelling and family visits. She was also active at her church, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, until she could no longer drive. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Harry Helms of Malvern; parents; husband, Russell Leroy Sellers; her brother, Ashley James Helms (who later changed his name to Andrew) of Oakview, Calif.; sister, Elsie Bess Goza McKinnon of Malvern; son, James Franklin Rowe of Amarillo, Texas.; son-in-law, Lanny Tom Norris of Spanish Fork, Utah; and great-grandson, Will Tom Norris of Eureka. She is survived by her children, Breal Rowe (Karen) of Ojai, Calif., Sherry Norris of Spanish Fork, and Linda Martin (Bill) of Las Vegas; niece, Valita Goza Loser (Greg) of San Antonio; 13 grandkids; and, at last count, 25 great-grandkids. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 13, with services following, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas. Burial following at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas. Hospitality reception following at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 N. Las Vegas Blvd. N.
