Harriet W. Slavik, 62, of Las Vegas, was called to our Lord and Savior Nov. 1, 2016. She was born Dec. 29, 1953, in Bethesda, Md., to Dr. William O. and Mrs. Patricia P. Wilson. She is survived by her husband, Gary W. Slavik of Las Vegas; three daughters, Amanda L. McChesney, and husband, Eric, of Kirkland, Wash., Cassandra J. Perron of Las Vegas, and Brianna M. Slavik of Kirkland; and three grandchildren, Samantha A. McChesney, Findlay O. McChesney and Hunter A. Perron. Harriet's father worked for the State Department and at the age of six months she moved to Cairo, Egypt until the age of one and a half. After moving back to the United States, she lived in Albuquerque and Los Alamos, N.M., where she graduated high school. She attended Stephens College and transferred to Wright State University. After college, she moved back to Los Alamos, where she met her husband and they married Aug. 22, 1975 at Monte Vista Christian Church. She loved staying home with her daughters and was a Girl Scout leader. She worked as a purchasing agent for Southwest Radiographic's in Albuquerque, then for Baxter Healthcare. She moved with her family in 1997 to Livermore, Calif., and then moved to Las Vegas in 2004. Harriet was always involved in the life of the Disciples of Christ Churches both in Albuquerque and First Christian Church of Las Vegas, where she sang in the choir and was involved with CWF. Viewing will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, with service following, both at First Christian Church, 101 S. Rancho Drive.
