Helen Pearson McLain passed away the afternoon of Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Barrett Care Center in Minnesota, while recuperating from pneumonia, just 12 days from her 89th birthday. She was born March 21, 1928, in St Thomas, Nev., the third child and second daughter of Leonard and Martha Pearson. She was blessed with five children, Barbara (Don) Olson of Minnesota, Don (Veda) McLain of Idaho, Diana (Jim) Rogers of Minnoseta, Ron (Karen) McLain) of Las Vegas, and Rick (Linda) McLain of Minnesota. She is survived by her children; her sister, Ruby Reid of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen married Leonard McLain Oct. 2, 1945 and resided most of her married life in Las Vegas, first on Titanium St. and then on Yuma Ave. Following Leonard's passing in January 1969, Helen went to work at H&O Foods, which supplied most of the food to the hotels. After her retirement, she became more active in her church. Helen moved to Minnesota two years ago when it became difficult for her to live alone. She kept busy knitting hats for her large family and all who came to visit. She was devoted to her family and loved nothing more than gathering them around her. Friends and family may call 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Family viewing will be from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Saturday, March 18, with service following at 1 p.m., both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1707 S. Sloan Lane, Las Vegas. Graveside dedication and burial following at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
