Helen Whitten passed away Aug. 24, 2016. Helen was born July 26, 1922, in Riverside, Calif., and was a resident of Las Vegas for over 38 years before moving back to California after the death of her husband, Don. As a civilian employee Helen worked in the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations. She was the first female employee at Norton Air Force Base in California and also worked at March Air Force Base in California, an Air Force Base in Japan shortly after World War II, and Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. She retired after over 40 years of civil service. Helen is survived by her brother; several nieces and nephews; and cherished friends. Viewing will be from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Services will be at noon, Monday, Sept. 19 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
