Herman Wayne Westfall, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away April 9, 2012. He was born April 1, 1926 in Fort Smith, Ark., and was a 50-year resident of Nevada. He served two years in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aerial gunner during World War II. Herman was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Herman was married to his beautiful wife, Faye Estelle, for 64 blissful years. After obtaining his masters degree, Herman moved to Las Vegas in 1962 and became the first business manager for what was then the Southern Regional Division of the University of Nevada. He retired 25 years later as the vice president of business affairs for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University honored him by dedicating a building to him on campus, the Herman Westfall Building. During his retirement, Herman enjoyed fishing, square-dancing with Faye, playing cards with friends every Monday, trips to Dana Point, Calif., rooting for the Runnin' Rebels basketball team, and most of all, enjoying time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Faye; his daughters, Cheryl (Neal) and Kathie (Brian); four granddaughters, Jamie, Jessica, Shannon (Tony), and Rebecca (Matt); and two great-granddaughters, Ariana and Cassidy. Viewing will be 3-7 p.m., Sunday, April 15. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 16, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
